Tiger Woods set for California action

Posted by Admin On 10:08 AM

Tiger Woods is to play the Frys Open in California on October 6-9.After three months out with knee and Achilles tendon injuries Woods finished only 37th at the WGC-Bridgestone Invitational three weeks ago and then missed the cut by six shots in the USPGA Championship.
It meant he failed to qualify for the FedEx Cup play-offs, but with Presidents Cup captain Fred Couples promising him a wild card for the match in Melbourne and wanting to see him in action before then, and look in the end-of-season Fall Series in the States was the obvious solution.
I always enjoy rival in my home state and this contest fits my schedule totally, the former world number one said on his website. One of my goals this year was to participate in a tournament I hadn't played before and now I will.
Woods won the last of his 14 majors in June 2008 and has not had a contest victory since November 2009.He has just two top 10 finishes in eight starts in 2011 and has drop from top of the world rankings last October to his current 38th.
