Shaun Edwards: Wales cannot build mistakes

Posted by Admin On 10:33 AM

Wales defense coach Shaun Edwards knows his side will have to match Samoa tackle for tackle in their crunch clash at the Waikato Stadium. Samoa surprised Wales in 1991 and 1999 - with the big hits from the South Sea islanders a feature of the victory.
And Edwards knows his Welsh side will need some big hits of their own if they are to halt the likes of Alesani Tuilagi, who score a hat-trick in the 49-12 win over Namibia, and Harlequins flanker Maurie Fa'asavalu.
They're big powerful men, similar to South Africa, said Edwards. They like to offload the ball and try to intercept a lot.We need to keep up our tackle percentage, which was good on the weekend. We need to create impetus to go forward and have variation around our ball players.
Wales go into the match on the back of an agonizing 17-16 defeat to defending champion South Africa - and Edwards knows the side can't afford any slip ups if they are to reach the last eight.
There was plenty of unconstructiveness in the media about our game against South Africa, but we were very happy with how we performed on the weekend,he added. In the end we lost by one point. We can't afford to have any mistake on the day.
