CSK skipper MS Dhoni believes that Kevon Cooper's crucial knock for Trinidad and Tobago hurt his side badly as they face exit from the NCL T20 after losing Sunday’s match. Trinidad and Tobago had scored 74 runs from 15 over while batting first, but finally managed to put 123 for eight on the board as Cooper batted with gusto towards the end.
Chennai lost the match by 12 runs after scoring 111 for six from their 20 overs. Dhoni said he had expected T&T to score 110, but that Cooper`s knock made the target a tough one.I was looking to chase 110 odd runs. I knew even if they get a few good over, I unsurprising 110 runs but those extra 10 runs really helped them,Dhoni said after the match.
Dhoni said playing strokes was hard on a wicket that was not always good for batting. It became really complex to rotate strike. They bowled in good areas. The ball was getting muddy and it was difficult to pick with their action,he said.
The CSK skippers, however, remains hopeful of qualify for the semi-finals.We need to win the next time, we’re playing the last game so if everything goes our way we’ll know what we need to do,he said.
T&T skipper Daren Ganga was pleased to post a win after losing two earlier matches from winning positions. It is always good to get a win. Tough luck to Chennai. I’m sure people back home will be pleased, he said.
With his team on the verge of the semi-finals, Ganga added that his team will go all out to win their last match on Tuesday and leave the rest to fate.We have a significant game against Cape Cobras. We have to win and win big. That is all we can do. We will let everything else take care of itself,he completed.
