Rafael Nadal: No meeting for strike yet

Posted by Admin On 10:53 AM

World number two Rafael Nadal has revealed no meeting has been listed in Shanghai to discuss the punishing stress of the tennis schedule. Talk of a player strike collect pace during the US Open with British number one Andy Murray leading calls for the ATP to rethink the current Tour schedule.
A meeting between both players and officials was scheduled to take place during the continuing Shanghai Masters, however, Nadal said:There is amazing there, but is not the right moment to talk about it, especially when nothing clear is done.
Always is better to talk about the things when you know precisely what's going to happen and when you know precisely what we are going to do.World number one Novak Djokovic and 16-time grand slam king Roger Federer have both pulled out of the Shanghai showpiece, further evidence of the toll put on players by heavy playing commitment.
And, despite not preparation on holding talks in China with the establishment, Nadal said there was broad agreement among players over the issue. He added:I am in touch always with the rest of the players. You know, I talked a lot with a lot of players last month. We'll see what we can do.
The important thing is that, yes, I can say because I'm sure we are, most of us, almost everybody, in the same way. So like this we have power. Now we'll have to keep finding what we really want for the view and make that happen if probable.
Referring to the absences from Shanghai of Djokovic and Federer, Andy Roddick said:Obviously, if they were feeling well and they weren't worn down, then they would play. We're not getting away with something by pulling out of contest. I feel like that's the way it's presented sometimes. That's just not the case,he added.
