Armenian grandmaster Hrant Melkumyan scored 20 points out of 26 to become the champion of the European champion’s title at the Continental Blitz Championship which was held in Warsaw, Poland.
According to the top Armenian online chess news portal, Armchess.am, 379 chess players (including 57 grandmasters) from 25 countries had taken part in the contest.
Currently, Melkumyan as well as Armenian grandmasters Sergei Movsisyan, Zaven Andriasyan, Hrayr Simonyan, and Arthur Gabrielyan are captivating part in the European Rapid Chess Championship 2011, which is also being held in Warsaw.
