Fifty nine members of the Southeastern Louisiana Athletics family were among the over 1,200 students that had degrees award at the university's Fall 2011 commencement exercises Saturday in the University Center.
The Southeastern Louisiana football program was represented by nine graduates on Saturday. Multi-time All-Southland discussion selection Josh Penton tinted the Lion graduates, along with teammates Devin Boutwell, David Durden, Ronald Johnson, Troy Metcalfe, Kory Theodore and Re'Keem Wilson. In addition, graduate assistant coach Matt Powledge earned his master's degree, while equipment manager Travis Dupre received his bachelor's degree.
Three Southeastern Athletics programs had three graduates on Saturday. The baseball team was represented by Joseph Koon and Mitchell Haynes, while Matthew Schexnayder finished his master's degree.
The Lion basketball team saw Rodney Jones, David Ndoumba and Marcus Verner each earn their bachelor's degree on Saturday. Two-time Southland Conference Men's Cross Country Athlete of the Year Henry Rop represents the Lion track program, along with sisters Courtney and Judith Schultheis.
The Southeastern women's basketball program had two graduates on Saturday. 2010-11 All-Southland choice Rashima Jenkins was joined by previous teammate Shauna Stewart. The Lady Lion softball team also had two graduates. Four-year starter Tamra Ladnier earned her degree, as did 2012 senior Trish Bliss.
Rounding out the Southeastern Athletics graduates was women's soccer be prominent Natalie Santana. A three-time All-Southland assortment, Santana finished her career as the school's all-time leader in assists.
