International Chess Federation (FIDE) Master Haridas Pascua certainly ended the year with a bang after after charming in two fresh chess competition in this region. Pascua, who hails from Mangatarem town, tally a total of five (5) points to top the 32-field Libsong East Chess Tournament held December 29 and 30 at Barangay Libsong East here.
Pascua previous won the 3rd Ernesto ‘Jonas’ Castañeda Jr. Cup Chess opposition held in the same town two days before.Prince Mark Aquino posted the same score as Pascua’s, but lost for have a lower tie-break score.
Pascua and Aquino received P3, 250 each. Provincial champion Dick Gicain, Robert Bautista, with 5.5 points, ended the winners’ row. They were following by Cherry Ann Mejia, Giovanni Mejia, Narquinden Reyes, Zaldy Falcon, and Casino Torres, with four (4) points.
The contests were prearranged by the Pangasinan Chess Federation (PCF) and hold by the Barangay Libsong East this town. The PCF will control another opposition in Bugallon town this January.
