ICC investigators have arrived in the Sri Lankan capital Colombo to quiz the former captain Hashan Tillakaratne over his match-fixing claim. But they were unable to meet him as he was not replying his mobile phone, the Sports Minister Aluthgamage told the assembly on Wednesday.
Hashan last month told a television chat show that match-fixing existed in Sri Lanka cricket as far back as 1992. Later making a declaration in the western provincial council, Hashan said he could only reveal names of those concerned if adequate security would be provided to him to ensure his personal safety.
He was later question by the police over his claims of match-fixing. Hashan comments drew responses from national cricketers Kumar Sangakkara and Mahela Jayawardene, who both said it was dangerous to make not mentioned allegations. The minister told the assembly that the former captain must come onward and he would ensure his individual safety.
